




- 63-year-old Caucasian female
- Loss of sensation to light touch in feet
- Bilateral weakness in arms and legs that has progressed over the last 3 months
- Loss of balance
- Reduced deep tendon reflexes in all extremities
- No family history of neuromuscular disorders

- Electromyography with nerve conduction study: Reduced conduction velocity, prolonged distal motor latency, distance dependent reduction of compound motor action potential amplitude, prolonged F-wave latency
- Lumbar puncture: Elevated protein in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)
- Sural nerve biopsy: Macrophage-associated demyelination, onion bulb formation, Congo red negative
- Genetic test: No TTR gene mutations identified
